PSI/China is inviting Expressions of Interest from qualified individual consultants/ consultancy firms to conduct a market assessment that would inform the development of a financially sustainable business model, with both a social and financial bottom line. The individual consultant/consultancy firm will be expected to carry out a strategic market analysis for PSI/China in Yunnan Province, Southwest China, which identifies potential opportunities with limited barriers to entry, opportunities for financial sustainability over time and which generates both a social (health) and financial impact. A detailed Profit and Loss (P&L) statement should be developed as part of the evaluation process and required capital investment needs for the options identified.
SCOPE OF WORK
Phase 1: General market analysis (desk or field based) to determine most viable, innovative health product lines. PSI/China will guide the consultant on the types of product lines which fit with PSI's present or future product lines.
Phase 2: Present findings from Phase 1 and mutually agree (consultant and PSI/China) on the health product lines to be targeted. Subsequently, consultant will be expected to analyze existing research and sales/market data, including but not limited to, consumer behaviors, trade behaviors, shopper behavior, sales trends, for the selected health products lines in Yunnan, China:-

In their proposal, the consultant should indicate the market analysis framework/tools, data sources for analysis etc. which they proposes to use, which would deliver the outputs below. Examples include: Porter's 5 forces, Five Cs Analysis, PESTEL, SWOT, Competition Analysis, Supply Chain / Value Chain Analysis, Risk Analysis, Boston Group Analysis, Trends, Profitability / ROI Analyses
OUTPUTS (FOR EACH OF THE HEALTH PRODUCTS SELECTED AFTER PHASE 1)
In their proposal, the consultant should specify the outputs from the market assessment that would help PSI/China achieve double impact (social and financial. The consultant will be expected to present their own ideas on outputs in their proposal, but the following suggestions should act as a guide. Indication on required upfront investment, Market Size and Evolution, including product landscape analysis; Industry Trends and influencing factors; Market Segmentation; Consumer Behaviors/Preferences; Value Control Centers, Cost Structures, Distribution Channels; Pricing and Margins; P&L analysis, Competition Profiles; Barrier, Opportunities; Market Drivers, Market Forecasts and Recommendations for the Marketing Mix
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF CONSULTANT/CONSULTANCY FIRM
The Consultant / Consultancy Firm personnel should possess:
• At least five (5) years experience in health market analysis
• At least five (5) years practical experience in conducting similar assignments
• Familiar with the concept of social marketing preferred
• Fluency (both written and oral) in English and Mandarin Chinese essential
HOW TO APPLY
