Job Title: Child Protection Specialist

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3: The responsibilities of the post require you to work directly with children or young people, individually or in groups
To ensure effective implementation and management of project activities of child protection system strengthening program at the national level.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
To manage national level child protection project activities in terms of design, planning, budgeting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating;
To produce high quality internal and external reports with support of National Child Protection Lead;
To prepare and manage budgets for national level project activities, including regularly monitoring of budget spend in order to ensure project spend on budget in a most cost effective way;
To work closely together with partners, including potential half of time working in partner premises, to communicate on implementation plan of project activities at the national level;
To work closely with other child protection staff working in pilot project locations so as to ensure national activities and field activities support and build on each other;
To support the effective integration of child rights, child participation and protection principles into project implementation.
To support National Child Protection Lead on communicating field project findings to national partners and advocating for a child protection system builds on project findings;
To support National Child Protection Lead on developing and maintaining national partnerships.
To comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s child safeguarding and other policies.
To perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time in order to ensure the smooth running of the team and the SCI China Programme.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor degree of related subjects, preferably on public administration, social work or law;
Minimum of three-year work experience in a child-related field and with knowledge and experience of project implementation cycle;
Understanding and commitment to work within an international charity;
Strong communication skills and analytical skills;
Fluent in English and Mandarin both spoken and written, with good report writing skills;
Commitment to support for cross-organisational initiatives and to team working and understanding of how to contribute to this.
Background on policy and law;
With experience of working in government partners;
With experience of Child rights and child protection;
An understanding of and commitment to the aims of SCI as an organisation working for social changes and active in the promotion of the rights of the child.
A flexible approach to work with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
