Education Officer (NO-A) Beijing, China

Summary: We are looking for a national Education Officer to provide support to the quality basic education programme, particularly the child friendly schools aspects.
While the focus of the UNICEF-MoE Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) was initially on teacher training as an ‘entry point’ to CFS, the emphasis of CFS shifted to a more comprehensive approach since then on to include these specific interventions during the current programme cycle 2016-2020: a) to create a social emotional learning supportive environment/climates in schools; b) to improve classroom teaching and learning c) to improve the whole school environment especially focusing on WASH; d) to promote physical education and sports activities for children in schools; and e) to form the partnership of school and families to enlarge the supportive educational environment to enable overall child friendliness inside and outside schools, and these have been implemented in 250 rural schools across five western provinces in especially rural areas. It aims to have working models of what a comprehensive CFS programme would include, and at the same time would work towards providing evidence that a child friendly school can make a significant difference to rural children’s learning and development.
