Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 

Under the general supervision of Deputy Director of China Office, and the direct supervision of the Government Partnership Officer (GPO), the incumbent is responsible for, but not necessarily limited to, the following assigned duties:

 

1.Assisting in the communication and interactions with government donors in China and related WFP country offices with the view to mobilizing resources from Government of China and ensuring that Chinese government contributions are implemented by WFP in compliance with the agreed terms and conditions;

2.Assisting in the review of the concept notes submitted by other WFP country offices;

3.Preparing work-related documents to facilitate communications between WFP and its partners, including Note Verbales, Appeals, Letters and other related documents;

4.Conducting research on given topics, and analyzing reports, research, data and related documents;

5.Providing support in the preparation and execution of matters related to government partnership;

6.Liaising with outside parties as required;

7.Preparing meeting documents, attending meetings as required and drafting NFR from the meetings;

8.Focal point for general operational and administrative requests related to Government Partnership (i.e., Purchasing Requests and Travel Authorization creation);

9.Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

·Education: University Degree in International Development Studies, Social Science, Political Science, Development Economics, Marketing Communications, or other relevant subject.

·Experience: Minimum two years of relevant working experience in donor relations and/or projects and operational activities that maintain and develop donor and host government partnerships. Previous work experience in fields related to development assistance is preferable. Previous work experience in the UN/international organizations/NGOs will be considered an advantage.

 

Skills and competencies:

Ability to work Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail) required for work; Ability to prepare preliminary reports and to draft correspondence; Ability to work in multi-cultural environment; Ability to work under pressure, be able to meet deadlines, willing to take challenges; Good communication skills with different stakeholders especially local partners.

 

Performance indicators: Excellent English language writing ability.  Concise reports and correspondence drafted with high quality; Smooth communication and dialogue maintained with the national counterparts; Strong enthusiasm with highly appreciated flexibility and adaptation; Work assignment completed before the deadline.

 

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Chinese.
