DEVELOPMENT Solutions Europe Ltd. (DS) is a European consultancy which serves the international
donor and business community in support of sustainable development and investments objectives,
primarily in emerging markets. Our work covers a wide range of fields described within four company
divisions, (i) Trade and Economy, (ii) Energy and Environment, (iii) Business support for small and
medium enterprises (SMEs) and (iv) Human Capacities. This expertise is built on our strong grounding
in project design and management requiring research, policy analysis, capacity building and business,
public and government relations expertise.
DS is one of the implementing partners for the EU Gateway to China Programme, fulfilling the role of
the Programme’s Operational and Logistics Unit. The EU Gateway to China Programme is a flagship
initiative funded by the European Union and managed by the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments
(FPI). The Programme supports European companies to establish long‐lasting business collaborations
in China and thus contributes to economic growth and job creation in the European Union.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated person to join our team to assist with all logistics for
business missions of European companies coming to China, and English‐Chinese / Chinese‐English
translation of Programme material in preparation for the EU Gateway to China events. Very good
event management and logistics arrangement skills are a necessity given the need for daily
coordination and liaison with different vendors and service providers. A successful candidate also has
a strong expertise in professional verbal and written communications in English and Chinese.
Duties and Responsibilities
Scope of Work:
  Plan and arrange the logistics in preparation for the EU Gateway to China activities, including
international meetings, press conferences, scouting missions, 5‐day business missions, etc.;
  Reach out to suppliers and coordinate with service providers in a regular, organised and
professional manner;
  Supervise timely and quality service delivery of the suppliers;
  Maintain and strengthen relations with Chinese and international service providers;
  Draft statistical reports on Programme activities related to logistics matters;
  Coordinate with the project partners and the Programme’s Contracting Authority on logistical
  Provide translation English‐Chinese / Chinese‐English for Programme material;
  Attend meetings with project partners and the Programme’s Contracting Authority;
  Other daily administrative and logistical tasks as may be required.
Institutional Arrangement:
  The Logistics Officer reports directly to the Project Manager of the Operational and Logistics

  Demonstrates commitment to the Project’s mission, vision and values;
  Demonstrates sound judgment, diplomacy and sensitivity to confidential matters;
  Excellent logistics, coordination and organisational skills;
  Demonstrable successful cases of planning and implementing events;
  Familiarity with structure, procedures and values of international organisations, in particular
the European Union, would be desirable;
  Excellent skills in verbal and written English and Chinese communications, previous
experience in translation / interpretation work is a plus;
  Experience in drafting event reports;
  Pro‐active, independent, with the ability to react and manage quickly and effectively last‐
minute changes;
  Team player with demonstrated self‐management and organisational skills;
  Strong attention to detail;
  Ability to adapt and work in a highly multicultural environment;
  Excellent computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
and other programmes;
  Bachelor’s  or  higher  degree  in  business  administration  or  management,
translation/interpretation, international relations, or a related field.
  Excellent command of English and Chinese, written and oral
