TFT is seeking an experienced and motivated COUNTRY LEADER FOR TFT CHINA
JOB TITLE: TFT China Country Leader
LOCATION: TFT China Office in Beijing or Guangzhou

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in English is essential (speaking, writing, and reading), Chinese speaking skill is preferred.
TERM: One year (renewable) contract with an initial 2-month probation period.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibilities of the TFT China Country Leader are:
1. LEADERSHIP & HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
·Ensure that operations and teams in TFT China are well structured, roles and responsibilities clearly defined and people are being held to account to deliver the activities in line with TFTs values, global/regional vision and plans agreed with TFT Clients and Members.
·Manage, motivate and develop all staff within China team. Ensure the organizational structure is appropriate for supporting TFT’s current and future business needs.
·Ensure TFT policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in TFT, and are followed at all times.
·Develop, maintain and control TFT China budget, and coordinate with TFT HQ for other issues related to finance
·Provide daily direction for TFT’s development in China and collaborate with TFT staff, members and civil society partners in China and around the world.
2. STRATEGIC PLANNING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
·Maintain and build collaborative relationships with relevant agencies, institutions, civil societies organizations, NGOs and consultants related to products groups TFT is working on;
·Develop and implement strategies and work plans for advancing the production and availability of responsibly produced products from China, focusing on current TFT product groups but also on new products;
·Participate in promoting TFT approaches and Initiatives (Rurality, Grassroots, Starling …) and vision with a wide audience including NGOs, companies and the donor community.
3. CLIENT AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
·Foster strong partnerships with investors, companies, including TFT members, local stakeholders and national grant decision-making committees.
·Meet regularly with current and potential TFT member/client representatives and their suppliers to maintain, enhance and develop new business opportunities in current or new product groups;
·Manage and oversee team’s delivery of project outcomes, reporting and communications.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. EDUCATIONAL & WORKING EXPERIENCE
§Master’s degree or other equivalent higher level training in forestry, natural resource management, environmental or social sciences or business
§More than 10 years professional management experience and expertise in cross border areas, and with multi-functional teams
§Advanced writing and communication skills in English; other foreign languages a plus
§Well developed management and leadership capabilities
§Field experience, particularly in the developing countries, required
§Well-developed computer skills including Microsoft Office Program suite
2. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
§Strategic thinking, planning, and management skills, particularly those related to business, forests, environmental and social issues
§Knowledge of current issues relating to TFT product groups
§Demonstrated ability to understand technical issues around the environmental, social and legality risks within TFT product groups
§Ability to address complex problems, through practical wisdom, develop and implement action plans that close out GAPs that address the challenges within acceptable timeframes
§Demonstrated ability to work with businesses on management, supply chain and certification issues
§Ability to inspire by doing
§Ability to proactively pass on knowledge
§Ability to work independently and in a small team
§Ability to prioritize and organize own/teams work schedule

The TFT China Country Leader will report to TFT Global Operation Director.
The TFT Country Leader will manage a team of 10+ professional, with direct reports from 3 project managers and an administrative officer.
