On May 25th, Alibaba released its annual report for the fiscal year of 2016 (which goes from the 1st April 2015 to the 31st March 2016). The report specially explains Alibaba’s social responsibility model and fully uncovers the scope of its charitable activities for the first time. 2016 China Child Welfare Week begins

The 2016 China Child Welfare Week has been launched by the China Philanthropy Research Institute of Beijing Normal University on the 30th of May 2015, just before International Children’s Day. With the support of the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) and the United Nations’ International Children’s Emergency Fund, this year’s China Child Welfare Week is focused on the establishment of a children’s welfare service system. The newest Blue Book of Philanthropy (an annual report on China’s philanthropic development in 2015) was presented last Friday in Beijing by the Center for Social Policy Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Social Sciences Academic Press (社会科学文献出版社), and the Lingshan Society for the Advancement of Philanthropy (中国灵山公益慈善促进会). Over 40 experts on philanthropy, representatives from social organizations and media delegates joined the event. Following the ceremony, a forum was held on China’s Philanthropic Development. First Confucius School opened in a Chinese prison

A Confucius School was opened inside a prison in Luzhong, Shandong Province, in the beginning of the month. Unlike the more famous Confucius Institutes, the Confucius Schools are a large-scale cultural program organized by the China Confucius Foundation with the aim of spreading Confucian thought, promoting traditional culture, and strengthening local communities. Starting in July 2014 over five hundred schools have been opened in mainland China, including provinces like Xinjiang, Qinghai, and Tibet. This Confucius School in Luzhong is the first school the foundation has opened inside a prison. The 2016 Legislative Work Plan has been issued by the General Office of the State Council. The specific work plan is divided into four parts, including urgent projects that are essential for comprehensively deepening reform (全面深化改革急需的项目), projects that should be finished this year (力争年内完成的项目), preparatory projects (预备项目) and research projects (研究项目).
